Ranked #9 of 20 2008 Shiraz from Coonawarra
Rich, deep, but slightly forward developed colour. Oaky nose, very barrel influenced and coconutty/vanillan. Same in mouth, where it has an oaky tannin astringency and an aftertaste predominantly of wood. It does have better fruit character and more fleshy richness than some others of its ilk. But it is somewhat of an oak-driven 'show pony' and it would be hard to identify as grown in Coonawarra.
Drink: 2014 to 2024
95 Points Robert Parker
Deep garnet-purple and showing aromas of warm black fruits, spices and licorice alongside nuances of anise, blueberries, charcoal and earth, the 2008 Prodigy Shiraz has a densely packed, medium to full-bodied frame draped with opulent fruit concentration, medium-firm levels of rounded tannins and a very long finish. Drink it now to 2024+.

94 Points James Halliday
Deep purple-crimson; relatively speaking, more elegant than some of its predecessors, 26 months in predominantly French and American oak barrels woven into the quite savoury/spicy black fruits and the extended finish. Drink to 2020.
