Huon Hooke
Deep, dark, almost blackish purple colour. Very dense, powerful aroma and flavour. Brilliantly fresh, clean, concentrated spice and red berry flavours. Very sweet berry accented, and the palate carries a wealth of tannins. Not especially elegant, the tannins being slightly gritty, but it's an excellent wine.

The bright colour has a little more purple than Mount Edelstone, and the bouquet is firmly in a black fruit spectrum, blackberry and a touch of smoked meat/charcuterie; the medium- to full-bodied palate follows on with a complex array of flavours, each demanding to be heard, as do the savoury tannins and oak. Will be very, very, long lived. Drink to 2040.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2010 Tappa Pass Shiraz is made with fruit from vines with over 50 years of age and matured in French oak. It has a very primary nose of warm black fruits, black plums and mulberries with nuances of chocolate, blueberry pie and baking spices. Full-bodied, concentrated and densely packed with dark fruit flavor, it has vibrant acid and firm, grainy tannins plus a long finish. Tempting to drink now, it should be at its best 2014 to 2022+.
