Huon Hooke
Deep red/brick-red colour, with a meaty, charcuterie, roasting pan aromas; chocolate background, roast meats, very toasty and quite complex. Deep, fleshy, delicious palate with a savoury nature and nice aged mellow fruit. Deep, intense, and fills the mouth. A very pleasing wine. Very long palate. Delicious. Still has some nice light tannins to dry the finish. Seriously good wine, and another example of 91 outrunning 90.

Medium to full red-purple; the bouquet is clean and relatively soft, with aromas of blackcurrant and soft, gently spicy vanillin oak. The palate shows the same blackcurrant fruit, allied with some dark chocolate flavours; the tannins are fine; the oak perfectly balanced and integrated. Drink to 2001.
