Ranked #14 of 29 2013 Shiraz from Glenrowan
Dense purple/red colour, subdued but bright, fresh aromas of black fruits, blackberries, sweet and fruit-driven. It's very full-bodied, dense and tannic, with a lot of muscle but the tannins - although formidable - are ripe and supple. There's a lot of 'chew' here and it demands time.
Drink: 2018 to 2035
93 Points James Halliday
Matured in French and American oak, this full-bodied shiraz follows in the footsteps of many wines made over the decades, with a strong sense of place; Alan Bailey (great grandson of founder Richard Bailey) would approve. Blackberry, tar, licorice and plum populate the palate, the tannins soft, not hard as was the case decades ago - this the one change in the nature of the wine, and for the better. Drink to 2033.
