Huon Hooke
Deep red/purple, excellent colour. Blackberry, black cherry fruit and subtle peppermint aromas. Bright, fresh and vital. The wine is straightforward and upright, lacking complexity at this stage but it's young and has a long way to go. It's very intense, concentrated, well-structured, very pleasing and easy to like. A superb wine in the making. Give it time, for preference.

Open-fermented, wild-fermented, 18 days on skins, matured for 18 months in new and used French barriques. Full crimson-purple, no obvious difference to The Acre; red and black cherry fruit has an insistence and focus that is restrained; these are twins, even if not identical. Drink to 2024.
