Ranked #31 of 87 2014 Shiraz from Lower Hunter
Medium to deep red/purple, the depth of colour on the lighter side for such a young shiraz. The bouquet shows herbal and briar notes as well as some leathery nuances. It's medium to full-bodied and softly textured, nicely rounded on the palate and savoury, with some advanced mellowness, the fruit character somewhat buried. A fine, elegant style of shiraz, very Hunter in style.

Open-fermented, and matured in new and 1yo French oak for 18 months. Bright crimson-purple; this is all about line, length and persistence, not about depth or power in the conventional sense. Its problem - if it be that - is it is so silky and juicy it could be enjoyed today, long before any secondary aromas and flavours are given a chance to add the complexity that undoubtedly lies in wait. Drink to 2049.
