90.5 Points Robert Parker
Ripe plum and cherry, mushroom stock, cedar, and brown spices mark the nose of Landanger’s 2008 Volnay Caillerets Clos des 60 Ouvrees, which conveys an energy reminiscent of – but going beyond – that exhibited by the 2006. At the same time, there is a dark chocolate richness accompanying the persistent sweetness of fruit, with cherry pit, chalk, fruit skin chew offering a slightly austere counterpoint in its lingering finish. This should be a 12-15 year keeper, and hopefully grow in stature with time.
