Ranked #1 of 15 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon from Frankland River
Deep red/purple colour. The bouquet is subdued and shy, but has nothing but good indicators. It's dark fruited and clean, properly ripe and bright, with good cedary oak in harmony and no negatives. It's full-bodied and firm with abundant powdery tannins, rich flavour and texture, and promises to flower into an excellent wine, given time. (single vineyard, Justin Vineyard, Frankland River)
Drink: 2018 to 2042
95 Points James Halliday
A classic, pure exposition of cabernet, with blackcurrant, bay leaf and dried herbs on the bouquet and palate, fine, but decidedly persistent cabernet tannins making sure you don't get off the hook too easily. So relax, and try to enjoy it, but realise this is a 30-year wine. Drink to 2042.
