Huon Hooke
Deep, dark red colour with a good purple tint; the bouquet is very meaty, with smoked charcuterie notes - the palate is gruff and gritty, rustic and ballsy, with stacks of front and grunt. Lots of spice and black pepper on the palate, deep and firm, grippy and yet balanced in its own individualistic way. Firm and yet harmonious, and very pleasing to the palate, the finish clean and precise. A character wine, and I love it.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Ironstone Pressings GSM offers a savory / meaty nose with notes of Bovril and yeast extract over a core of kirsch, sandalwood and plum preserves, plus a waft of fenugreek. Medium to full-bodied with a good foundation of chewy tannins and plenty of freshness, it has a deliciously earthiness in the mouth, finishing long and spicy.
