Ranked #7 of 28 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon from Barossa Valley
Deep, rich colour and a lush, super-ripe bouquet and flavour, emphasising licorice and aniseed along with blackberry. The flavour is as rich as plush, full-bodied, with soft, ample tannins and good length, some alcohol warmth lingering. A generous, high-quality wine, now benefiting from some bottle-age. (Mainly from the Light Pass, Ebenezer and Moppa districts. Includes a small amount of malbec)
Drink: 2019 to 2032
89 Points Robert Parker
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Mentor Cabernet reveals a lively nose of crushed blackcurrants and blackberries with touches of eucalyptus, cedar, cloves and cinnamon stick. Medium to full-bodied, the muscular fruit has a solid backbone of ripe, grainy tannins and loads of freshness, finishing long if just a little hard.
