Huon Hooke
Deep red colour with purple tinges. Oaky and slightly fumey to sniff, with a lick of toast and some developed black fruit, chocolate and black olive notes. There's evidence of a lot of oak here. The texture is big, bold and rather gripping. Oaky tannins, too. Not elegant, but gutsy.

The very essence of blackberry pastille, with a dollop of sweet raspberry thrown in for good measure; the generous sweet fruits continue through on the palate, making it easy to miss the ample level of ripe tannins just waiting to take the fruit on a long journey. Drink to 2025.
