The 2005 The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon is purple/black in color. It offers aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, licorice, black currant, and blackberry liqueur. This leads to a flamboyant Cabernet with gobs of ripe fruit and notes of chocolate emerging. The wine has well-concealed tannins, excellent balance, and a 60-second finish. It will benefit from 5-7 years of cellaring and will drink well through 2025.

More savoury restraint than many McLaren Vale cabernets; medium-bodied, with black fruits and savoury tannins; 22 months in French oak. Drink to 2029.

Deep hue; voluminous and very ripe licorice aroma, rich and concentrated, deep and fruit-sweet. A lovely wine, with lashings of flavour and tannin, and quite complex already: has a meaty charcuterie and smoky complexity, and a touch of cigarbox. Palate is taut, firm, dry and savoury. Superb red wine. Modest cabernet character, but decadent! Drink to 2030.
