Huon Hooke
Very deep red colour with a good tint of purple. The bouquet is reserved, with peaty, nori and black olive aromas, tinges of graphite and bitumen, strong but stylish oak treatment, and a very full-bodied palate that is intense and powerful and very penetrating. The tannins are very persistent, coating the entire inside of the mouth. Gorgeous flavour and massive structure, an outstanding wine. Great length and resonance.

A fitting capstone to a recent mini vertical, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon marries elegant notes of pencil shavings and dark chocolate with fine herbal notes and ripe cassis fruit. It's built along the lines of the 2012, with ample weight and richness on the palate, loaded with soft, velvety tannins that lubricate the dark flavors as they glide effortlessly across the palate into a long, plush finish.

Includes 15% merlot. Another excellent wine with neatly compact flavours and definition. Beautiful tannin structure, the palate silky and refined, the cassis, the oak, the spices all dutifully playing their part. Drink to 2035.
