Ranked #1 of 17 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from Frankland River
Deep, bright purple/red colour, the aroma spicy and fresh, clean and dusty blueberry cabernet. It's fresh and almost a tad raw but the tannins are rounded and smooth, and the wine has excellent balance. The fruit is concentrated and deep, and the wine has a big cellaring future. Very impressive.
Drink: 2020 to 2038
97 Points James Halliday
The most powerful and concentrated of all the deluxe/icon wines in the Houghton range, a distillation of blackcurrant, black olive, bay leaf and cedary oak, the tannins lined up in a haughty (sorry for the pun) support. No compromise here - the wine would have pleased Jack Mann enormously. Drink to 2050.
