Huon Hooke
Deep-ish colour still with some purple in the rim; the bouquet is rich and ripe, smoky and complex, with more oak, earthiness and secondary complexity than the '09 Ponsot Griotte Chambertin tasted alongside, which was a major contrast in style. The wine is full-bodied for a Burgundy, soft, ample and rounded in shape, with marvellously mysterious depths and formidable length. Superb wine, which will offer more if cellared several years.
