Ranked #30 of 69 2016 Chardonnay from Piccadilly Valley
Medium to light yellow colour. The bouquet is shy and subdued, with some toasted nut and dry straw nuances and quite good complexity, showing some oak. The palate is attractively intense and savoury, with a firm, dry finish and good length.
Drink: 2018 to 2026
95 Points James Halliday
Fermented in French barrels of several sizes (40% new), part taken through mlf. The bouquet is fractionally reduced, the palate straining on the leash with its choir of nectarine, white peach and lemony acidity. This more than compensates for the bouquet, which dissipates over time in the glass. Drink to 2027.
