95 Points James Halliday
The vines were planted in 1892, hence the name. Particularly by the standards of McLaren Vale, a stylish, albeit powerful, example of old vine Shiraz. Concentrated dark plum, blackberry and earth fruit on the bouquet is replicated by the concentrated savoury/black-fruited palate, finishing with fine but persistent tannins. Drink to 2020.
