Deep, intense bright red/purple colour, youthful and coupled with a similarly youthful bright bouquet which features smoky char-oak and sooty regional character in abundance. There's a touch of graphite about the taste and the palate is intense, concentrated and driving, with lots of well-formed lively, but not astringent, tannins. Acid is happily moderate. It has a sweet core of fruit, which is nicely hidden among the savoury aspects. Excellent.
