Huon Hooke
Medium dark red purple. Dominant toasty barrel and vanilla aromas, which oak dominates entirely. Palate is surprisingly soft and fleshy, smooth and easygoing. Oak is domineering on nose but it softens and fleshes out the palate. Better to drink than sniff. Sweet, fleshy, succulent flavour and tannins.

Refined concentration and power immediately obvious; a delicious array of blackberry, plum and cherry fruit; fine tannins, balanced oak; great length. From 100-year-old vines yielding 1 tonne per acre; 200 cases made. Drink to 2029.
