Ranked #8 of 17 2015 Shiraz from Canberra District
Deepish, bright red/purple colour, with an unusual, almost metallic aroma, and some meaty reduction. The wine is lean, intense and elegant. It seems early-picked, or from a cooler site, with red fruit rarer than dark, clean acidity and a sinewy texture. There are minerally flavours, too. All in all, a very different shiraz and a very drinkable style.

Sarah Crowe says the family is excited about this wine, having made 20 dozen in '14 and none in '16, putting the 220 dozen of this wine into focus. Matured for 12 months in French oak, plus a further 12 months in bottle before release. The perfumed bouquet and bright, clear crimson-purple are harbingers of a light to medium-bodied palate that dances in the mouth like a fire tail finch, the flavours all things red, the tannins pure silk. Beautiful packaging is another plus. Drink to 2025.
