Aged in water-bent D&J hogshead barrels, Leconfield's 2013 The Sydney Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon boasts stunning purity of fruit. Cassis shines, with hints of licorice and mint for complexity. It's full-bodied, rich and velvety, intense, ripe, juicy and dark fruited, with a long, plush, plummy finish. It should drink well for a decade or more.

97 Points James Halliday
A true Reserve from the best rows planted 30 years ago, picked 20 Mar, in a single open fermenter, pressed before dryness to finish fermentation in new French hogsheads, matured for 29 months. This really is a beautiful cabernet, the barrels made by Dargaud & Jaegle (which I used at Coldstream Hills from '85 through to '96) that impart less oak flavour than other coopers. It is totally integrated with the opulent cassis fruit. Drink to 2043.
