Huon Hooke
Deep red colour with a tinge of purple. The bouquet is intensely fragrant, very vegetal, peppery and stalky, and smacks of slightly green stems. Green peas and beans as well. Lots of whole-bunch ferment, no doubt. It's raw and rather bolshie in the mouth, with acid, tannin and some greener notes adding up to a little rawness. It's full-bodied and concentrated, and has the makings of an excellent wine if kept a while.

Excellent colour, still holding its primary crimson-purple hue. This is exceptionally intense and complex, deep robes of velvet wrapping the palate in an embrace that is sheer perfection. Tannins are part of the picture, but are completely resolved. Drink to 2046.
