Ranked #11 of 109 2009 Shiraz from Barossa Valley
Very complex thanks to eight years of age; roasted nuts, raisins, 'squashed ants', licorice and old boots. A full-bodied wine with power and weight and a grainy texture. Preserved plums. Alcohol warmth, a lovely big wine which is starting to show very attractive developed characters. (This has a touch of viognier in it every year)
Drink: 2017 to 2029
92 Points Robert Parker
Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2009 “The Beauty” Shiraz presents pronounced notes of creme de cassis, dark chocolate and black licorice with hints of cardamom, vanilla, and smoky bacon, plus a whiff of toast. Full bodied and richly fruited, it gives a good mouthful of spicy warm berry flavors supported by lively acid and a medium-firm level of grainy tannins, finishing long. Drink it now to 2022+.
