96 Points James Halliday
Ashbrook entered this, their first Reserve wine, into the Margaret River Wine Show '13, where it received the top-gold medal in its class. It's easy to see why the wine attracted the attention of the judges, particularly given the desire to reward elegance and finesse. The bouquet and palate sing from precisely the same part of the same page, cassis, cedar, redcurrant and oak spice all in tune with each other; the tannins are fine, gently savoury, and are now embedded in the fruit, not needing to defend their position. Drink to 2025.
