Huon Hooke
Medium to deep red/purple colour, but not deep. The reserved aroma has some spice and coal dust as well as red fruit notes, while the palate is medium-bodied at the most, and lean-ish, with a touch of sinewiness in its texture. The finish is tight and slightly pinched. It's a more medium-weighted 'Hunter burgundy' style that will be better with a little time.

Hand-picked, 3 days cold soak, cultured yeast, matured in used French casks for 15 months. Bright, clear crimson-purple; the ultra-regional bouquet sets the scene with its savoury/earthy characters sewn through the medium-bodied palate, plum, blackberry and tar flavours to the fore. Its Graveyard origin encourages those who are patient. Drink to 2035.

A multi-regional blend of McLaren Vale, Beechworth and Hunter fruit, before maturation in a coterie of French oak casks, of varying size, this has the black plum and fruit spread spice of warmer climate wines, singed with polished leather, anise and a whiff of menthol. Mouthfilling generosity and good punchy length. Drink to 2025.
