90 Points Robert Parker
The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Les Haut de Beau Monts comes from a parcel located on the steep northern side of a small valley with limestone (oolite) soils, the altitude at around 300 meters. It sees one-third new oak, the same for one- and two-year-old barrels. I appreciate the purity of the fruit here: lively raspberry preserve, crushed strawberry and subtle limestone aromas that are neatly delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth red cherry and strawberry fruit on the entry, hints of orange sorbet surfacing halfway through and fine tannins throughout. There is a easy-drinking sensibility to this Vosne-Romanée, perhaps belying the depth on the finish that is commendable for a village cru. I think the altitude and orientation really assisted this wine in such a warm season.
