Ranked #70 of 81 2009 Shiraz from McLaren Vale
Fullish red-purple. Spices and pepper, possibly also some smokiness - almost bushfire/smoky. Palate is leanish and a bit hollow, with a firm tail and plenty of tannin, but unconvincing.
Drink: 2011 to 2017
89 Points Robert Parker
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2009 The Mad Hatter Shiraz is intensely scented of ripe mulberries, blueberry pie filling and licorice with hints of tree bark, cinnamon stick and mace. Medium to full bodied, it offers mouth-filling ripe berry flavors supported by very crisp acidity and a medium level of rounded tannins, finishing long. Drink this one now through 2017+.
