91 Points Robert Parker
This is one of Verset's greatest efforts. Verset's 1985 has aromas of smoke, violets, jammy blackberry fruit, licorice, and Asian spices. Superbly concentrated, with layers of flavor that persist and persist, this full-bodied wine possesses a voluptuous texture as well as a sweet, expansive, layered mid-palate. The extraordinary level of ripe fruit nearly conceals plenty of ripe tannin. Anticipated maturity: now-2006. Last tasted 11/95.
