Huon Hooke
Youthful, deep red colour, still with good purple tints; it smells very oaky indeed and somewhat like an oaky old brandy. The palate shows better balance in this regard: it's concentrated, powerful, profound, with coffee grounds, mocha and slightly porty flavours. Very big, with some alcohol after-heat, but it's still young and needs ages. An impressive, immense wine. (3 years in 100% new Dominique Laurent Burgundy barrels, then 2 years in bottle before release)
