Deepish red/purple colour, with a bouquet of discreet pepper, spice, herbal and meaty charcuterie notes. The pepper suggests cool-climate. The palate is elegantly medium-bodied and very intense, the bright peppery fruit backed up by lively acidity. The tannins are in harmony.

Estate-grown, hand-picked 15 Mar-11 Apr, some whole berry, 12 days on skins, matured in French puncheons (5% new) for 7 months. Very good crimson-purple hue; the spicy, peppery, black cherry flavours verify the bouquet, although there's a nip in the air with the defiantly cool climate style. Drink to 2033.
