Ranked #23 of 38 2018 Shiraz from Heathcote
Deep, dark red colour with a good purple tint. The aromas are sweetly super-ripe and tending jammy, while the palate is likewise sweetly ripe to overripe and has a somewhat cooked character. It smells rather like vintage port. A very big, overripe wine with a mass of supple tannin and a resonance of alcohol on the finish and follow-through. The aftertaste is quite spirity.

Soft red colour. This wine is a single site wine now entirely from the Adairs Lane Vineyard only 4kms from the winery. Aromas of mixed spice and a sweet melange of aniseed, clove and star anise. All very typical of southern Heathcote’s cooler climate. A delightful hint of oak on the nose. The palate is big, with lashings of red/blue fruits, earth, black pepper, and a complex finish. With some delightfully chewy tannins finishing this wine off, such structure and palate weight classify this wine as “cracking” alongside the classy oak use in the background. Lip-smacking goodness. Enjoy for 7 – 15 years+. 15.6% Alc. 100% Shiraz. Bottled in 750mL only.
