Huon Hooke
Very deep, concentrated purple/red colour, the bouquet likewise concentrated, bright and youthful, with a good seasoning of spicy oak. Delicious cassis flavours power the palate along, ably supported by lashings of firm cabernet tannins that are absolutely on the money. It's fresh as the proverbial daisy and very, very persistent. A top wine with a massive future. But patience is recommended.

Top class, young cabernet sauvignon can have a hauteur, a reserve, an arrogance driven by its self-acknowledged excellent and layered power. You don't have to like it, but you do need to respect it - and be confident that in 15-20 years time it will sweep all before it. This is such a wine. Drink to 2038.
