A very deep, bright, youthful purple colour leads into a superbly ripe cabernet nose, black fruits and smoky, graphite aromas with a faint suggestion of bitumen or creosote. No greener, leafy notes at all. The wine is full-bodied yet elegantly stated, with richness and intensity and terrific palate length. There's a lovely fruit-sweet core to it. It's definitely a warmer-year Coonawarra cabernet. This is a cracking Black Label.

The 64th vintage. A wine of provenance. A wine of excellence. It ages superbly, yet is flattering when young. Perfect fruit at its core, with gentle flavours of cassis, blackberries and blueberries. It has depth, length and line, thanks to the fine, detailed tannins. Classy cabernet. This is up there as one of the finest to date. Bravo. Drink to 2043.
