Huon Hooke
Deep-ish red-purple colour, excellent hue and depth, the bouquet of plums and faint mintiness is reserved and earth-bound, with a touch of oak and a richness that is echoed faithfully in the mouth where it's fleshy and dense with plenty of extract. Tannins galore—smooth, fleshy tannins.

As with the vintage, acidity is upfront and personal. It does more than tag along, it’s in the driver’s seat. Riding shotgun are textural tannins, dark cherries, dried herbs, some meaty reduction and lots of exotic spices with a bitter charred radicchio finish, in a good way. The palate fleshes out and opens well with decent airing. Drink to 2033.
