Huon Hooke
The colour is a youthful medium-full red-purple; the bouquet is loaded with gloriously ripe dark cherry, spicy oak, vanilla and smoky aromas. The palate shows great power and concentration, as well as elegance and finesse. Great flavour and harmony. A long-term wine. Not especially New World-like. (Tasted blind among many top Burgundies at the Avery Forum, Tasmania)

Clear, full crimson; the bouquet and palate alike have a special richness, DRC Richebourg compared to the Reserve's La Tache; fruit, tannins and oak are welded together in an exultant wave on the bouquet, and a seamless stream on the very long palate, its finish and aftertaste of rarely encountered quality. Drink to 2032.
