90 Points Robert Parker
The 1996 Shiraz won''t make readers forget the spectacular 1995 and 1994. While outstanding, it is not made in the blockbuster mold of several previous efforts. The wine possesses a dark ruby/purple color, as well as a peppery, licorice, and black fruit-scented nose with loamy soil tones in the background, medium to full body, and blackberry/blueberry fruit and spicy wood notes (from its maturation in a combination of American and French barrels). It should drink well for a decade or more.

94 Points James Halliday
Medium to full red-purple; a classic Langi bouquet with Rhône-like game, spice and licorice aromas of medium intensity; subtle oak. An absolutely delicious wine on the palate, with all of the foregoing flavours, smooth and supple, with soft tannins on the finish. Not a heavyweight, but it doesn't need to be. Drink to 2006.
