Huon Hooke
(Centenary vintage) Deep bouquet evoking creosote and earth, dark chocolate and roasting-pan aromas, the wine very intense and bright in the mouth; lively, elegant and long. A stylish wine drinking superbly now.

The star wine of a post-Clos Fourtet vertical. A deep garnet hue. Lovely ripe, lascivious anis-tinged black fruits, black plum, becoming more medicinal with time. One the palate there is a viscous texture, good acidity to cut through the glycerin-rich fruit and impressive definition. Lush on the finish with stewed black plums, sloes and damson. Very long. This is a great wine that has barely started motoring: it has at least 20-years to look forward to. Drink 2010-2030. Tasted July 2008. Drink 2010 - 2030.
