Ranked #2 of 24 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from McLaren Vale

Huon Hooke
Deep purple red. Excellent colour. Deep blackberry and chocolate nose, shows primary fruit as well as other complexities. Big, brawny, tannic and a touch raw, but has loads of fruit and flavour. Youthful and backward: needs more time. Puckering astringency. Smart wine with a big future. Best 2010 to 2019

Lush and plush, with a dark chocolate imprint of McLaren Vale making its mark on ripe blackcurrant fruit; tannins and oak well handled. Drink to 2019.

"The dark ruby/purple-tinged 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate exhibits sweet tannin, medium body, and abundant amounts of briery fruit intermixed with notions of black currants, licorice, and graphite. Aged in primarily French oak, this wine reveals a supple, forward style that begs for consumption over the next 3-5 years."
