96 Points James Halliday
Dense colour; saturated black fruits, opulent mouthfeel, but tightened and lengthened by cedary oak and lingering tannins. Drink to 2021.

Balnaves The Tally Cabernet Sauvignon is an award-winning wine from this distinguished family-owned Coonawarra winery located in the famed Terra Rossa strip. The 2006 vintage was awarded Cabernet of the Year by the Penguin Good Wine Guide 2009, and the 2004 vintage won Jeremy Oliver's vote as Wine of the Year. In 2008 James Halliday named Balnaves as Winery of the Year. The Tally Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is only made years when the vintage is outstanding.
"Dry, roping, coiled tannin. Voluminous, backward, black fruit. Toasty oak kept - almost to the point of reserve - in check. Background itches of dried herbs and leaf matter. Patience is required. It could be a beauty."
