Ranked #7 of 23 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra
Deep red colour with a faint tint of purple lingering, the bouquet mellowing blackcurrant, mulberry with truffle notes. Leafy and minty cabernet notes later, which are turning into tobacco with age. The palate is drying and savoury, lean-ish in profile, the tannins still quite assertive and drying. Good wine, starting to show attractive matured complexities.
Drink: 2020 to 2028
94 Points James Halliday
Deep, bright colour; St Hugo has a long and distinguished history in Coonawarra, and seldom misses the mark; this is an impeccably structured and balanced wine, fruit and oak fused together, and some Coonawarra earth notes making their expected appearance. Drink to 2022.
