Ranked #4 of 21 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon from Barossa Valley
Medium to deep red colour, purple rim. Bright, clean, attractive red fruit aromas; smells of raspberry and cherry. Medium-bodied at the most, with vibrant, attractive fruit flavours and a thread of cleansing tannin throughout the palate. Nice sweet fruit core, then a tidy, dry finish that lingers and satisfies. A surprising Elderton: Crisp, elegant and fruit-driven.
Drink: 2012 to 2022
89 Points Robert Parker
Coming from 45- to 70-year-old vines, 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep garnet color and aromas of warm mulberries and blackberry preserves over creme de cassis, dried herbs and dusty earth. Medium-full bodied and richly fruited in the mouth, it offers a medium level of grainy tannins, crisp acid and a long finish. Drink it now to 2019+.
