93 Points Robert Parker
The 2001 Dry Red Number 2 is a blend of 95% Shiraz and small quantities of such white varietals as Marsanne and Viognier. Complex, exotic, sultry aromas of marmalade, white, red, and black fruits, acacia flowers, pepper, and licorice are followed by a smoky, opulent wine with great delineation, admirable overall structure, beautiful purity, and undeniable personality as well as exuberance, all delivered in an incremental build-up on the palate. While the most accessible of this portfolio, it promises to drink well for 10-15+ years.
