Ranked #10 of 41 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec Petit Verdot from Margaret River

Huon Hooke
Deep red colour with purple tints. The bouquet shows a lot of oak and is a little unsettled. There are deep underlying cassis and blackberry flavours, while the tannins are quite fine and smooth. There's a trace of bitterness in the dark chocolate after-palate flavours. Some acidity shows. A young and slightly unresolved wine which needs time. It has concentration and muscle and should reward cellaring.

91 Points Robert Parker
Deep garnet-purple in color and redolent of creme de cassis, warm black plums and blackberry preserves, with suggestions of cigar box, cinnamon stick, cloves, lavender and bay leaf, the medium to full-bodied 2011 Heytesbury has a solid structure of firm, chewy tannins and crisp acidity cutting through the densely packed, muscular fruit. It finishes with great length. Drink it now to 2023+.

97 Points James Halliday
A blend of cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and malbec, cabernet sauvignon having the lion's share; spends 18 months in French oak (around 60% new). It purrs like an idling V8 engine in a very expensive car, with ripe cassis, blackberry, mulberry and cedar aromas and flavours, tannins hiding until the accelerator is flattened. No one can doubt the quality or the longevity of this iconic wine. Drink to 2041.
