Huon Hooke
Deep, dense red/purple colour. Dark chocolate, mocha bouquet reflecting the use of plenty of oak. Full-bodied and tannic, with density and grip aplenty, and quite a long carry. Big and fairly unsubtle wine, but has generous flavour and will appeal to lovers of Big Aussie Reds. Chewy and bold. Will likely improve with a little cellaring.

Plastered with gold medals and trophies from overseas, plus Winewise ?13 and Sydney International Wine Competition. Last/first tasted 3 years ago, the colour is still bright and deep, the palate fresh and vibrant, having shaken off its puppy fat. Unquestionably a very good wine, still with its sense of place undimmed, its seamless black fruits, dark chocolate, oak and fine-grained tannins on the same page. Drink to 2040.
