Deep, dark, dense colour showing a little development in its tint. Very smoky, but also very spicy. Sandalwood and talcum oak scents. Very attractive flavours, medium to full-bodied in the Penfolds spectrum, A lovely lush wine, spicy and talcy, very elegant and fine-boned. A delicious wine at the more graceful end of Penfolds spectrum. A really lovely wine. Oak makes its presence felt on the palate and needs time.

The 2010 Magill Estate Shiraz is deep garnet-purple in color and shows ripe cassis, blackberry and plum preserve aromas highlighted by lifted notes of roses, chocolate box and a touch of cedar. Medium to full-bodied, it is packed with rich, concentrated and refined flavors and framed with medium-firm, grainy tannins through the long finish. It should go on and on for a long time. Drink it from 2014 to 2026+.

Impenetrable colour; the bouquet of this flagship vineyard is dominated by sweet vanillin oak at this early stage, indicating that patience is a necessity to get the most out of this wine; beyond the lavish oak are layers of black fruits, licorice, spice and floral notes; there is a firmness to the tannins here that complement the depth of fruit on offer, the wine's parts in total harmony. Patience will be rewarded. Drink to 2045.

2010 is a magnificent Magill that ranks among the finest. It displays an impressively deep hue for this vineyard, a wine of voluptuous dark berry compote and delightful focus of blackberry, blueberry and liquorice fruit. It has outstanding drive and energy, with immense concentration, beautifully encased in those classic, silky yet commanding Magill tannins. It does so with effortlessly poised definition, fine-grained structure, and impeccable internal harmony. Drink 2020 - 2035.
