Ranked #2 of 53 2013 Sémillon from Lower Hunter
Bright, medium to light-yellow colour. A whiff of free sulfur comes off at first sniff, then there's lemony herbal freshness, discreet and refined with no single aroma dominating. There's just a whisper of toast starting up, but the wine is reserved for its age, promising to live long if cellared. Taut, dry, savoury and restrained. An excellent wine with a long future ahead of it. (5 Gold medals)
Drink: 2018 to 2028

The 2013 Vat 1 Semillon opens with pretty aromas of fresh apple, pears and lemon peel on the nose. Slightly tropical in the mouth, it is dry, light-bodied and endowed with tons of flavor, great ripeness and a crisp acid line yet the wine remains approachable and nicely textured through the long and apple-laced finish.

Classic in the making. Straw-green, slight spritz, excellent intensity yet it still manages to trip lightly from the attack to the extended finish. Citrus, wax, anise and green herbs but beautifully integrated. Complete. Only available to Wine Club members. Drink to 2026.
