Very good depth of colour, and a bouquet of raspberry, cassis, spice and violet aromas that just oozes class. The palate is intense and focused, tight and refined, with really stylish, fine tannins that run the entire length of the palate, finishing long and harmonious. Seriously good wine; powerful, and very regional Margaret River style.

Bright purple-crimson; the fragrant red and black berry bouquet leads into a complex, medium- to full-bodied palate; here cassis, black olive and a hint of tar melt with French oak and cabernet tannins standing guard to protect a long life. Drink to 2031.

When this wine landed, I sent out the word to friends who were married or gave birth in 2011. This is the wine for 21st birthdays and silver wedding anniversaries. For the warmest vintage in a decade in Margaret River, it retains impeccably vibrancy and unwavering poise amidst considerable power and solid, generous concentration. Firm, fine tannins propel an enduring finish, promising great longevity. The usual recipe of cabernet sauvignon dominance (91%) prevails, with a dribble of merlot to round it out, but the difference this year is 6% cabernet franc, said to lift aromatics and enhance restraint. It works, defining delightful violet fragrance over a core of blackcurrant fruit and coffee bean oak. Drink 2021 - 2036.
