Huon Hooke
Deep, dark red colour, with purple tints. Strong peppermint aroma, this dominates the nose. Bright and firm, grippy and tense on the palate, with a very firm tannin structure. Plenty of fruit and super-ripe impressions. Bold, gutsy, but not very elegant. Worth cellaring, though.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2009 The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon offers pronounced notes of warm cassis, eucalypt and dark chocolate with touches of cedar and toast. Generously fruity and medium bodied on the palate, it has lively acidity and a medium to firm level of grainy tannins, finishing long. Approachable now, it should drink best 2013 to 2023+.

A deep and sweet-fruited example of cabernet, showing cassis pastille in abundance on the bouquet and palate; the sweet fruit then continues for a while, until it is shut down by forceful tannins reminding you of the full-bodied nature of the variety. Drink to 2024.
