96 Points James Halliday
From a single vineyard planted in 1865, surely the oldest surviving in the Clare Valley. Very good colour to an exceptionally potent and massively concentrated shiraz; can't be assessed without repeated visits to the glass, gently prising open the multiple layers of blackberry fruit allowing the inherent balance of the wine to express itself. A heavily stained mediocre cork fills me with dismay. Drink to 2030.
