Huon Hooke
Deep, rich red colour, still showing a good youthful purple tint. Toasty oak, smoked charcuterie and chocolate aromas, traces of mint, the palate rich and fleshy, dense and thickly-textured, the tannins chewy and just a smidgin oaky-tasting. It's a very good wine, although it hasn't developed that much complexity. It is still young, however. (70-75% new French oak)

Very deep garnet-purple, the 2012 Shiraz Clos Otto gives youthful, primary fruit notes of crushed blackcurrants and blackberries over nuances of cedar, star anise, underbrush and earth. Big, full-bodied and packed with taut, muscular fruit, it has a solid structure of firm grainy tannins and lively acid, finishing long if youthfully restrained. Give it 3-5 more years in bottle.
